Registrations for Community cricket teams – closing on 23rd September 2020
Registrations have been strong, but we’re aware that with winter sport finishing later than usual some players might need extra time to register. Therefore, registrations for Under 10s through to Under 16s/17s Community cricket teams will now close on 23 September 2020.
Register at: https://cncc.org.au/membership-registration/
Registration for Blasters (5 to 9 year olds) will continue to remain open until late October, as Blasters doesn’t start until 1st November.
Community Cricket Teams
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to be a team coach or manager. Registered players should have heard from your team coach or manager by now, confirming which team you are in. If you haven’t, please contact your Age Group Coordinator (whose details can be found at https://cncc.org.au/contact), or our Registrar, Nicole Kerr, at jnrregistrar@claremontnedlandscc.com.au
Team coaches and managers will also be arranging training times over the next couple of weeks, with training to officially start the week of 12 October (although we’ve heard of some super keen teams who have started training already). The cricket association should be releasing game fixtures to the MyCricket App for all age groups on or about 9th October, with the first games of the season to be played on the weekend of 17th-18th October.
Level 1 Coaching Course – 23rd September
The Club requires our coaches to obtain a Cricket Australia Level 1 coaching qualification to improve the level of coaching being offered to our junior cricketers, and to make training sessions more fun. COVID-19 Policy (very important, please read)
The new WA Cricket Return to Play Protocols that now apply to Community cricket can be found HERE. All parents and players are asked to familiarise themselves with these protocols.
As a result of these protocols, and to maximise player safety during the pandemic, please note the following important changes that will apply to CNCC Community cricket teams at training and games:
- There is to be no sharing of any playing equipment.
- Under no circumstances are helmets to be shared.
- No shining of the ball with saliva or perspiration.
- Players must now bring their own drinks, food, and alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
What this means is that players must now bring their own helmet, bat, pads, protectors and gloves (batting and wicket keeping) at training and games. The club will no longer be providing equipment in team kit bags to be shared by players.
To assist with this transition, we have agreed some special discounts with Club sponsor Revo Cricket Shop for parents to get some early Christmas presents and purchase their child his or her own playing equipment (see below).
Existing playing equipment belonging to the club which is in each team kit bag will be removed and kept at the Team Manager’s or Coach’s house. If a player cannot afford to buy his or her own playing equipment (whether new or second hand), please speak to your Team Manager or Coach who can obtain approval from the Age Group Coordinator for the club to lend playing equipment to a player for the duration of the season.
Any existing pairs of wicketkeeping pads in the team kit bag can also be lent to a designated team wicketkeeper for the duration of the season.
