Hi Tiger Family,
I hope you all had a Great Xmas and New Year.
It has been a busy time at CNCC, so I wanted to update you on a few things that have been happening around the Club.
The first half of the season has been quite successful for us. We are currently sitting at 5th on the Club Championship ladder. Our 1st Grade team are currently on the top of the ladder, in their attempt for their 3rd consecutive premiership. One of the pleasing aspects of that is that 22 players have played in the 1st Grade team this year, with 6 debutants – showing the depth we have available. They have also qualified for the Final of the One Day Competition which will be played this Sunday 16th February at Fletcher Park in their attempt for a 5th consecutive One Day premiership. Unfortunately, we lost the quarter final of the T20 Competition, and our Colts (U21) also were defeated in the Grand Final which was held at the WACA in early February.
Our 2nd Grade team have recently moved into the top 6 after some good performances. Our 3rds and 4ths have been challenged with the high movement of players, though this has given opportunities to younger players to play up the grades which is an important step in their development.
Historically our U15’s and U17’s have been challenged due to the impact of school sport on our squads and this continues to be the case. However, our coaches have been doing a fantastic job in developing these young players for the future. Our U13’s are learning about the rigours of district cricket, while our U14’s sit just outside of a finals position at the moment.
Our 40+ junior community teams (including 2 girls teams), our All-Abilities group, and our 100+ Junior Blasters have returned after having a break for Xmas and the school holidays
As for our players at the next level, we have had 4 players involved with the Scorchers in the Big Bash (Matt Kelly, Joel Paris, Nick Hobson and Tim David), with Joel and Matt also involved with WA in the Sheffield Shield and One Day series. We have had another 2 players – Brad Hope and Hayden Morton also involved in the WA 2nd XI games. From our Juniors, we have had James Pike represent in the WA U19’s, Riley Mattingley in the WA U17’s, and Rory King and Benji Melville selected in the WA U15’s team.
Thank you to all our sponsors for their continuing support of our Cricket Club.In particular Wayne Smith and Vince Lewis at CITY TOYOTA. Your sponsorship is invaluable to our club in continuing to keep the Tiger Pathway flowing. This year, your sponsorship has assisted us with purchasing equipment for our junior teams, getting our second girls team up and running, and assisting with our coaching – an important role of our Club to get all of our players, juniors and seniors, to be the best they can be and to maximise their enjoyment and love of the game.
Off field we have reached a major milestone in the redevelopment of McKenzie Pavilion and our updated Webpage was released last week.
February and March will be busy with many of our teams playing in the Finals and looking forward to seeing many of our Past Players at the 89/90 Premiership and Club Championship reunion in March.
